"The word 'sobyō' is the Japanese word for 'sketch'.
The five pieces on this album were produced in the late summer of 2021, after the release of my first drone/ambient works, 'kehai' (Tabula Rasa Records) and 'notari' (FOIL), and an EP by antennasia, the band I have been working with a vocalist and composer San, for over twenty years.
I started writing these pieces like a sketch or a diary, capturing the ordinary scenes of everyday life, drawing and colouring them in my own way. I try to keep the sound as minimal as possible, sometimes adding sound of field recordings. Maybe, it has a little 80's sound.
The ordinary life or landscape that had been already there when I was born, were of course not automatically there, nor will it always be there. For a long time I
was not aware of this. This music is an abstract and a personal record of an ordinary life that is fast disappearing in a place I live. It is no longer clear to me whether this is fiction or
nonfiction. It was therefore important that it be released abroad. Maybe it's the same psychology that makes you keep your precious photos or letters in a safer place. Thank you to the label for
making it possible. I hope I don't sound exaggerated. This is just a sketch of a landscape, nothing special."
